Water meters are a key component of Calgary’s Watershed Management Plan and is a critical tool in The City of Calgary’s efforts to encourage water conservation in support of the 30-in-30 water efficiency goal.
Installing a water meter makes good sense. Meters save water and they save money for Calgarians. Today, 97 percent of Calgary residences have water meters, and commercial and industrial customers are 100 percent metered. If you don't already have a water meter, it's time to get one installed. Research shows that water meters are proven to save water and money because you only pay for the water you use. Customers that have already switched to a water meter have on average reduced their monthly bill by 30% which translates into savings of $25 every month or $300 a year. There is no charge for the meter installation and it is a simple process that usually takes less than an hour. The City of Calgary has contracted Metercor, a company that specializes in water meter installations, to install meters in Calgary homes.
