Prairie Winds Park Redevelopment - Construction Begins!
The City of Calgary Parks has started construction on the redevelopment of Prairie Winds Park and construction is expected to be completed summer of 2017.
During construction, areas of the park will be closed to the public, including:
- The east end of the north parking lot. Parking will be available on the west side of the lot, as well as on the street and in the southeast lot.
- The Park Centre Building and washrooms. Port-a-potties will be available for public use in north parking lot.
- Spray park and wading pool. A new and improved wading pool, with a lazy river, is being built in the park to replace the existing one. The adjoining spray park will closed to ensure public safety while the wading pool is being demolished and rebuilt, and to prevent the spray park equipment from being damage during construction. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause park users.
Other areas of the park, in addition to the ones listed above, will be closed temporarily as work moves through the park. Information on area closures will be posted at calgary.ca/prairiewindspark and signage will be placed in the park to let park users know.
Citizens can also follow #prairiewindspark on Twitter to stay up-to-date on area closures.
