69th Street and Glenmore Trail (Highway 8) Transmission Line Realignment
ENMAX Power Corporation (ENMAX) is working on a complex, multi-year project to relocate electrical infrastructure from 69 Street SW to Macleod Trail/Highway 2A to accommodate the construction of the Southwest Calgary Ring Road (SWCRR).
To accommodate construction of the new interchange at 69 Street SW and Glenmore Trail (Highway 8), the Province of Alberta has requested ENMAX relocate a portion of an existing 138 kV transmission line along Glenmore Trail (Highway 8).
ENMAX Power Services will begin construction on the transmission line relocation in February 2017 and the project is estimated to take four weeks to complete.
The work includes removing eight existing wooden transmission structures from Discovery Ridge Boulevard north and east of 69 Street SW and installing eight new steel monopole structures in a new alignment as outlined on the map. The steel monopole transmission structures are self-supporting and will have a height of 27 to 34 metres (88 to 111 feet).
