Ward 6 official website
Atco
ATCO will be in or near Strathcona in the coming weeks to upgrade the natural gas distribution system. The project will include the installation of approximately 600m of low-pressure natural gas main of which 350m will be installed by Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) underneath the Sarcee Trail SW and Bow Trail SW intersection. The remaining portion of the line will connect the ATCO regulating station on the SW corner of the intersection to a previous of this project at Worcester Drive SW.

This project is part of the Urban Pipeline Replacement (UPR) Program which modernizes the natural gas network and adds capacity to meet the growing demand for natural gas in Alberta’s largest centres. The installation of the new gas lines will employ all the latest technologies available and will meet or exceed building and construction standards to ensure continued safe and reliable natural gas service.

Work will take place near the Strathcona Gate Station (Phase 4) throughout July to September, with the following impacts:
  • Portion of storm pond will be used for temporary working space
  • Closure of pathway west of Sacree Trail and south of Bow Trail to allow working space.
  • Closure of Strathcona Hill SW road for 1/2 day off peak hours.
  • To accomodate construction activities during peak hours, traffic is planned to be detoured through Strathcona Dr NW.
