The Calgary Icereaker Polar Dip, a Discovery Ridge initiative, has taken place for the last 5 year in Discovery Ridge, and it has now out grown the Discovery Ridge venue and will be moving to Elbow Valley Residents Club, which will provide more space and warm bathrooms.
The Calgary Icebreaker Polar Dip was started by Calgary’s Old Guys in Action that inaugurated the event in 2010.
This 6th year of the Dip is to once again raise awareness and funds for the SAFoundation, an international, Calgary-initiated foundation that fights human trafficking by offering programs, support and training for survivors and their children. The event has also been a great way to bring the community together for some New Year’s Day fun, shenanigans, and starting the year off in a positive way.
Last year we had over 75 dipsters and about 300 attendees and we raised $75,000 for the SAFoundation. This year we hope to have more dipsters, attendees and funds raised.
Here is a clip from the Dip.
