Ward 6 News: Removal of Dog Prohibited Signs

  • Share

Ward 6 official websiteCalgary is an "on-leash city", meaning that dogs must be on a leash unless they are on their own property or in an area that is designated by signs as an off-leash area. On-leash dogs must also remain at least five metres away from all playgrounds and sports fields, unless otherwise indicated. This is in full accordance with the Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw which also requires owners to clean up after their pets.

If you do note frequent or increased violations pertaining to dogs in the park, please notify Animal and Bylaw Services by calling 3-1-1 to report violations. The area will be monitored in order to educate and encourage pet owners to comply with the Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw prior to enforcement.
