Sirocco LRT Parking Lot Expansion

  • Share

March 6, 2017

There is good news for riders of the West LRT line and users of the Sirocco LRT park and ride!
The Sirocco LRT Parking Lot Expansion is scheduled to begin construction in early spring of 2017 and will add 69 new stalls to the existing park and ride lot.
Approximately half will be reserved parking stalls and the other half will be on a first-come first-serve basis. The expansion will increase the total capacity of the parking lot from 386 to 455 stalls.
Interest for more stalls has already been expressed by the more than 2,000 commuters on the wait list for the 69th Street Station park and ride. It’s anticipated that, with the aforementioned demand, as well as the resurgence of the economy in years to come and continued community growth to the west of 69th Street, the Sirocco parking lot will experience similar demand to that seen in the years leading up to the economic downturn.
Completing the expansion at this time with the current number of users will help to limit the inconvenience to customers, since construction will require the temporary displacement of approximately 34 parking stalls.
Details of the project include asphalt replacement and curb work, underground utility work, installation of a wooden fence and landscaping along the property line with Milestone Condominiums. Anticipated completion is in the Summer, 2017. The photo below shows where the new parking stalls will go:
