Ward 6 News: Leaf & Pumpkin Composting program

  • Share

Ward 6 Report

Each fall, Calgarians are invited to compost their leaves and pumpkins by bringing them to one of 36 drop-off locations across the city. This year, the program began on September 28 and ran until November 11. Three new locations were added this year, including Optimist Athletic Park in Glendale. Other nearby locations included:

  • Glamorgan Community Centre
  • Marda Loop Community Centre
  • North Glenmore Park
  • Wildwood Community Centre

Last year, more than 2,000,000 kg of leaves and pumpkins were composted through this program. The Leaf and Pumpkin Composting Program is just one of many ways that you can reduce the waste that enters our landfills, helping The City of Calgary achieve our goal of reducing 80 per cent of waste by 2020.
