Ward 6 Report

Investing in communities is one of the most important ways that we are building a great city. In 2011, the Province eased the provincial property taxes, which resulted in a projected cash flow of approximately $42 million annually. Council took this opportunity to create the Community Investment Fund, which uses a rigorous selection process to fund critical community infrastructure projects, such as the athletic field irrigation upgrades.

Other projects approved for CIF funding include:

One of the groups that benefitted from the latest round of Capital Conservation Grants was the Strathcona-Christie-Aspen Community Association (SCA CA). This group maintains a beautiful facility in Strathcona where they host a variety of programs and events. Many other community groups utilize the facility, including Inn from the Cold, with whom the SCA CA has partnered. You can read more about the good work they are doing by visiting the Strathcona-Christie-Aspen Community Association project page.
