Starbucks Youth
Starbucks Opportunity Youth Initiative

The City of Calgary Youth Employment Centre (YEC) is partnering with Starbucks to take action and provide meaningful employment opportunities for our youth. As one of the country's leading employers for young people, the company is taking a leadership position by committing 10% of its new store hires to Opportunity Youth, who are young people ages 16-29 who are not working, in education or training and who face barriers to employment.
The commitment supports motivated young people who have a strong desire to work, but require support in finding pathways to opportunity. Working in partnership with the YEC and local youth-serving employment agencies, Starbucks will dedicate 100+ jobs for Opportunity Youth in Calgary each year.
Additionally , further opportunities are created by providing these part-time employees with “full time” benefits. Employees who work a minimum of 20 hours a week receive medical and dental benefits, $5,000/year in mental health support, tuition reimbursements, stocks and future savings along with career and personal support services.
With the average age of Starbucks partners being 24, the company is committed to offering employment conditions that provide young people with the early support they need to be successful. And with six locations in Ward 6, there are great opportunities in our own neighbourhood.
How to apply:
  • Drop in to YEC and see one of our Employment Counsellors
  • They will help you will craft a targeted resume and then assist in the application process
