Our thoughts are with those of you who have been affected by the recent flooding in Calgary. We are working diligently with City staff to assist you in this time of need and thank you for your patience. We are only just beginning to recover from this catastrophic event and will need the continued help and support from volunteers and other citizens to assist in the clean-up and re-entry process. Thank you to those who have already been doing this work - your help has been greatly appreciated in our ward and other affected areas of the city.
Our ward office in City Hall is one of the locations in Calgary directly impacted by floodwater. The office is inaccessible to us at the moment and we are without access to our computers and voice mail. A contingency plan is now being executed to set up temporary office space as soon as possible. When our alternate work space is ready and operational we will let everyone know.
In the meantime please contact 311 for assistance and 911 in case of emergency. The Calgary City News Blog has the most up to date information on this flood event and we encourage you to check it often. Please remember that the City of Calgary remains in a state of local emergency with its first priority being your safety and well-being. Please be cautious as you re-enter flood affected areas.
If you are looking to volunteer and help out with the clean-up process, YYC Helps is an organization that connects Calgarians who want to help Calgarians in need of assistance. Their website lists current volunteer opportunities. The Canadian Red Cross website also has useful information on the current flood situation.
