Ward 7 News: The Queen's Diamond Jubilee awards

Ward 7 Official Website

In December 2012 I had the honour of nominating five community leaders for a Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal: Lily Kwok of Chinatown, Louise French of Dalhousie, Cheri Macaulay of Brentwood, Kris Olsen of Rosemont, and Ned Shillington of East Village. The Ward 7 office arranged a surprise event for the recipients and their families and presented the medals in City Hall’s historic Grant MacEwan Library on February 21, 2013. Mayor Nenshi was able to spare a few minutes to drop by for a spontaneous visit and to extend congratulations and thanks for their contributions to the wellbeing of our city.

All five of the medal recipients have dedicated countless hours to their neighbourhoods to make them wonderful places to live. I would like to congratulate Kris, Lily, Louise, Cheri, and Ned on receiving their awards.
