The Calgary Police Services issues Alarm Permits to residential and commercial premises, and we are also responsible for issuing Alarm Penalty Notices and collecting associated fines. Please see The City of Calgary’s Alarm Bylaw (31M95) for more information.
The Calgary Police Service recently approved a phased-in approach to revise the current Alarm Bylaw and how and when officers respond to alarm calls. For more information, please see Information for CPS Permit Holders.
Obtaining an alarm permit
To obtain your Alarm Permit, please complete the alarm permit application.
Once your form has been completed, please mail it to the address below or visit our office in person. You can also drop your application off at any Calgary Police district office marked "Attention Alarm Bylaw, mail code #609".

Alarm penalty notices
The Calgary Police Service is responsible for processing fines associated with false alarms. Alarm calls where the Calgary Police Service has attended are reviewed daily, and a penalty notice is sent to security alarm companies for any false alarms.
