Have you ever wondered what it's like to be a police officer? The Calgary Police Service's Junior Police Academy gives youths aged 12 to 16 the opportunity to find out.
For each session 12 spots are reserved for our partner organization Big Brothers and Big Sisters, with the remaining 12 spots available for the public to register.
Youth in the Junior Police Academy experience an inside look into the life of a Calgary police officer. They get an "up close" look at many Police aspects, including:
- HAWCS helicopters,
- Police firearms range,
- Outdoor pursuit driving track,
- Drug Unit,
- Crime Scene Unit,
- Tactical Team,
- Traffic Unit and more.
The week concludes with the kids marching on parade and receiving their certificates.
If you're interested in joining the Junior Police Academy, submit the application form and include a brief essay (no more than 250 words) stating why you want to participate. There is no costs associated with this program. Youth will be selected one month before the session begins.
