Ward Boundaries

New Ward Boundaries (effective during the 2017 Election)

In order to address an imbalance in the distribution of population across wards, new ward boundaries will go into effect for the 2017 General Election.

How does this affect candidates?

When collecting signatures in support of your nomination for office please ensure those individuals signing meet eligibility requirements; 18 years of age or older, Canadian citizens, having resided in the Province of Alberta for a period of 6 months or longer prior to the election and they must be residents of the Ward for which the nomination is taking place. If you are campaigning, it is important to make sure you are campaigning in accordance with ward boundaries. Voters in the affected communities will be voting in a different ward than during the 2013 Election. They may also have a different designated voting station on Election Day (note: voting station locations may change even if your ward boundaries did not change).

What changed?

A total of 58 communities within Calgary are impacted by these changes. For more information on these changes visit The City of Calgary's Ward Boundary Changes page or email
