Why run?

Elected officials represent their constituents and make important decisions on their behalf every day. Calgarians lives are impacted by the decisions made by their local government and school board trustees. Running for office provides you with an opportunity to connect with your community, understand their concerns, and potentially be in a position to make a positive impact on citizens' lives.

If you think that you can make a difference in your community, want to champion for causes that matter, and are passionate about taking part in the democratic process, then you should consider running for office.

Before you do, make sure to read through the Local Authorities Election Act and Bylaws to make sure you qualify and understand the requirements and regulations of running for office. Candidates are responsible to ensure their campaigns are compliant with all legislation and bylaws related to the Election.​​​
