The City of Calgary faces complex problems with no easy solutions. We can make more progress by involving the public. Leaders and decision makers need to understand the different perspectives and opinions of Calgarians and public engagement can help foster understanding and trust. Citizen engagement brings about new ideas, new plans for action and new collaborations.
Public engagement is a process that allows citizens to get involved in public issues they care about. Most importantly, it helps leaders and decision makers better understand the perspectives, opinions, and concerns of citizens and stakeholders.

The City of Calgary knows that making good decisions should be done through public engagement. The City has an 
engage! policy that provides guidelines for engagement processes. The engage! cornerstones are the foundation to all engagement activities.
