The City of Calgary, Animal & Bylaw Services, Calgary Fire Department, Calgary Police Service, Community & Neighbourhood Services, Emergency Medical Services, Parks and Recreation have partnered with the Calgary Board of Education to create this publicly accessible online safety resource for students in grades 4 to 7.
This innovative, fun, interactive and educational learning Web site enables young people to explore information that will assist them in making responsible decisions regarding their personal safety and injury prevention. In fact, Think Responsibly
has been the recipient of the CAMA
(Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators) and Jim Gray
awards for its contribution to municipal literacy and safety awareness.
Parents, teachers and youth have the opportunity to explore contemporary issues, located in five modules, such as Graffiti: Crime or Legal Activity; The Impact of Head Injuries; Responsible Use of City Parks and Recreational Sites; Understanding Positive and Negative Peer Relationships, and The Consequencs of Fire Play.
Students are also encouraged to enter this month's Think Challenge
for an opportunity to win an iPod Nano.
