The City of Calgary: Worksheet 2

Worksheet 2

Community & Neighbourhood Services

Developing A Sector Map for Your Community

Ways to Use this Worksheet

  • Use it as a prompt to help you identify the people and organizations that are part of the community.
  • Use it to help you document who you know (network of contacts) in the community.
  • Use it throughout the phases of community work to record how your network of contacts evolves and to gage the representativeness of participation in community initiatives.

Each community has a unique combination of people and organizations which help define its character and are potential resources. The diagram below provides examples of sectors you should explore by examining demographic information, walking around the area (if there is a specific geographic component to the community) and talking to people.
