Appointing a Representative
"assessed person" means a person who is named on an assessment roll in accordance with section 304 of the Municipal Government Act.
The Assessment business unit permits the appointment of an individual or company to act as agent for the assessed person in interactions associated with administration of certain aspects of the Municipal Government Act, section 284, Part 9.
To act as agent for the assessed person, an individual Authorization of Agency (AOA)
(37 KB) form must be completed and submitted to the Assessment business unit for each property and business assessment account.
The AOA form must be submitted as an attachment to a letter from the same assessed person who signs the AOA form, and on the personal or business letterhead of the assessed person. The AOA form requires approximately seven business days to be reviewed and authorization determined by the Assessment.
Information Request Requirements
Assessed persons and their agents may request written information in respect of their assessment. When requested, we offer the Assessment Explanation Supplement (AES) to provide certain written information to the assessed person or their agent.
To request the AES, the Assessment Explanation Supplement Request (AESR)
(22 KB) form must be completed and submitted to Assessment. Should the AESR form be submitted by an agent, authorization of agency must already have been established by Assessment in order for the AESR to be processed. Any AES request may be subject to fees as provided by City of Calgary bylaw 13M2007.
