The City of Calgary: Property Tax Assistance for Seniors Program

Property Tax Assistance for Seniors Program

Finance & Supply

The Government of Alberta provides an annual rebate to assist senior homeowners with year-to-year increases in the provincial portion of their property taxes.

Seniors remain responsible for paying the full amount of their property taxes by the property tax payment deadline. Senior homeowners may then be eligible for a rebate to cover any increase over their 2004 provincial property tax.

Please note: if you turned 65 or moved during the tax year, your rebate will be based on the year the event occurred.

Alberta Seniors and Community Supports has partnered with The City of Calgary, to administer this program. Unless notified by the Province, seniors who previously enrolled in this program do not need to submit copies of their property tax notice each year. If the provincial portion of your property tax increased over the 2004 amount, a rebate will automatically be issued. Eligible seniors should receive a rebate cheque in the summer.

If you have any questions, please call the Alberta Seniors toll-free information line at 1-800-642-3853 or visit Alberta Seniors and Community Supports External Site..
