The City of Calgary: Northwest LRT Extensions

Northwest LRT Extensions

Transportation Infrastructure

Northwest Calgary is home to more than 300,000 people. Currently, there are seven stations on the northwest LRT line serving an average of 101,000 passengers each workday, with capacity for over 2,500 vehicles in the Park and Ride lots.

Two additional stations were approved for the northwest line to keep up with residential and business growth in these areas.

Crowfoot Station is the first LRT extension in the northwest since 2003. Funding was approved in 2005 and the station opened for revenue service on June 15, 2009. The Northwest LRT Extension to Rocky Ridge/Royal Oak and Tuscany (XRT) was approved in November 2007 and is expected to open in 2014. This project is currently in the preliminary design phase.
