Shepard Landfill entrance now located on 68 Street S.E.

To accommodate the widening of 52 Street S.E., the entrance to Shepard entrance has been relocated to 68 Street S.E.

Construction and demolition waste rate changes Nov. 1 Construction and Demolition Waste Diversion
The City wants to encourage more recycling of construction and demolition waste. Since Nov. 1, 2009, commercial customers to City landfills are charged $105 per tonne for designated materials including concrete, brick and masonry block, asphalt and metal. The City has also launched a construction and demolition waste diversion pilot at Spyhill Landfill to provide recycling opportunities for wood, asphalt shingles, drywall and cardboard.
Leaf & Pumpkin Composting program 2009 Leaf & Pumpkin Composting program - EXTENDED to Nov. 15, 2009
You now have more time to recycle your leaves and pumpkins. The 2009 program has been extended to Nov. 15, 2009. During the Annual Leaf & Pumpkin Composting Program, you can recycle your bagged leaves and pumpkins. Just take them to any of the specially marked seasonal Leaf and Pumpkin drop-off locations or City Landfills throughout Calgary. The Leaf & Pumpkin Composting Program is for residential use only.
Blue Cart recycling Blue Cart recycling is here.
The City of Calgary provides weekly Blue Cart recycling service to single-family households up to and including fourplexes. All recyclables go in one cart—no more sorting—and plastics 1-7 are included. Collection is on the same day and location as regular garbage collection (front street or back lane).

Household Chemical Drop-Off Program Household Chemical Drop-Off Program
Waste & Recycling Services with the Calgary Fire Department, offers year-round chemical drop-off depots. Residents can take their household chemicals free of charge to any of The City landfill Throw N' Go areas or designated fire stations with special storage depots.
Recycling Depots Community Recycling Depots
All 50 Community Recycling Depots in Calgary have been converted to no sorting! All depots also accept plastics #1-7 (excluding polystyrene).
