With over 7500 hectares of land and approximately 700 Km of pathways available, the opportunities to get out in the fresh air are endless. Take a walk in Nose Hill Natural Environment Park, let your dog run in one of the 138 off-leash areas, or simply sit and relax in one of the over 3400 park sites.

In celebration of Parks' 100th anniversary, The City of Calgary Parks is hosting free family concerts in parks this summer. The next event is August 28 in Prairie Winds Park.

Giant Hogweed

Giant Hogweed - Weed Alert!
Giant hogweed is a serious concern in British Columbia, Ontario and the Atlantic provinces. To date, The City of Calgary has been unable to verify that giant hogweed has established anywhere in Alberta. There are no confirmed cases in Calgary.

Nature Exploration is a teacher's guide to The City of Calgary Parks environmental education programs. The 2010 - 2011 guide is now available! Program registration begins August 3, 2010.

Parks Celebrates 100 Years

Parks Geocaching Challenge
Calling all Calgarians to celebrate Parks 100th anniversary by accepting the geocaching challenge. Each month, for May to August, 25 geocaches will be placed throughout Calgary parks for a total of 100 Parks geocaches. Should you accept this challenge, great prizes can be won.

Landscapes of Celebration

Landscapes of Celebration - Olympic Plaza
Six Celebration Landscapes are featured in Olympic Plaza, honouring The City of Calgary Parks' 100th anniversary and introducing a new and fun way for Calgarians to interact with the park space. The six installations, two designed by local Landscape Architects and the other four from across Canada, transform Olympic Plaza into a colourful and interactive place.
