There are seven types of files that can be viewed or downloaded from our portal:
- PDFs - Portable Document Format (

- Microsoft Word (

- Microsoft Powerpoint (

- Microsoft Excel (
)
Depending upon how your browser and the applicable viewer application are configured, these documents may either open in the viewer within your browser window or in the viewer as a stand-alone application, outside your browser window, or you may be given the option to select whether to open or save the file.
If there are difficulties opening a document by following the link or to save a copy of the document on your computer, "right-click" on the link to the document itself and save it on your computer. Then open the document using the application appropriate for the type of file. On Apple computers, instead of right-clicking, position the cursor over the link and hold down the button until the context menu appears, then select the appropriate option to save the file on your computer.

Portable Document Format
Portable Document Format (PDF) files are viewed using Adobe Acrobat Reader. PDF files provide the easiest way to view and print a document that looks as close to the original document as possible. A free copy of Acrobat Reader can be downloaded
from Adobe's site.
To indicate a PDF file, the link will be followed by the PDF icon (

Video and Panorama
Most video and panorama files are in MOV format and can be viewed with Apple QuickTime. However, if other video software has been installed on your system (for example, Windows Media Player, Real Player, etc.), these video files may open in something other than QuickTime. A free copy of QuickTime can be downloaded
from Apple's site.
To indicate a video file, the link will be followed by the video icon (

To indicate a panorama file, the link will be followed by the video icon (
) and the size of the file, ie: link text

Audio
Most audio files are in MP3 format and can be listened to with Apple QuickTime. However, if other audio software has been installed on your system (for example, Windows Media Player, Real Player, etc.), these audio may open in something other than QuickTime. from Apple's site.

Some legacy files may need to be opened in Windows Media Player. A free copy can be downloaded
from Microsoft's site.

Macromedia Flash
Macromedia Flash files are in SWF format and are viewed using Macromedia Flash Player. Macromedia Flash Player is a multiple-platform client and is pre-installed on 98% of Internet-enabled desktops worldwide. If you are unable to view and interact with Macromedia Flash content, a free copy of Macromedia Flash Player can be downloaded
from Macromedia's site.
To indicate a Flash file, the link will be followed by the Flash icon (
) and the size of the file, i.e. link text

Microsoft Word
Some documents are Microsoft Word (DOC) format. Microsoft Word is a word processor from the Microsoft Office family. A free copy of Microsoft Word Viewer 2003 can be downloaded
from Microsoft's site.
To indicate a DOC file, the link will be followed by the DOC icon (
) and the size of the file, i.e. link text

Microsoft PowerPoint
Some documents are in Microsoft PowerPoint format. A free copy of Powerpoint Viewer 97 can be downloaded from Microsoft's site
