The City of Calgary: Electronics Recycling

Electronics Recycling

Waste & Recycling Services

Calgarians can recycle old and unusable (end-of-life) electronic items – free of charge – at any of several depots in the city. These electronics contain chemicals and heavy metals that are potentially harmful to the environment if buried in the ground.

Some items that can be dropped off are televisions (all sizes), laptop and desktop computers, printers and computer monitors (some restrictions apply).

See our Electronics Recycling Depots area for a list of locations to recycle your end-of-life electronics or our Materials Accepted for Electronic Recycling area for a list of products accepted for recycling.

The Alberta Recycling Management Authority (ARMA) manages Canada's first province-wide end-of-life electronics recycling program. Since Feb. 1, 2005, consumers have paid an environmental fee on new purchases of TVs, computers and related electronic equipment. These fees range from $5 to $45, and subsidize the collection, transportation and recycling of old and unusable equipment.

For more information on this program, visit the Alberta Recycling Management Authority External Site. Web site or call toll-free at 1(888) 999-8762.
