Background
In 2004, Calgary City Council approved land use policies to make the most out of the areas surrounding LRT stations. These policies prompted planning studies for the areas within walking distance to the LRT stations.

A Demonstration Project
Anderson LRT Station was chosen as a demonstration project for quality Transit Oriented Development (TOD) in Calgary.
The TOD Anderson project team is working towards an approved outline plan and land use redesignation for City-owned lands near the Anderson LRT Station.
The project area boundary includes the City-owned lands located on the west side of MacLeod Trail, east of the rail line, north of Anderson Road and south of Southport Way.
What's New?
On November 29, 2007, the development team for Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) at Anderson Station held a public open house at the Southwood Community Centre. This was the second session in 2007 relating to TOD at Anderson: the first information session was held in June 2007 and introduced the concept, principles and theory of TOD.
Taking into account the feedback received from the first session in June, the development team put together a development scenario for Anderson station. The purpose of the November session was to present this proposed development scenario to the local community and transit users and hear what they had to say about the development model.
At the November session, the proposed development scenario, form, density, statistics, transportation impacts and timelines for the project were presented, along with information on the concept of TOD from the first session in June. Information was presented through a number of display panels and individual or small group discussions. The project team and their consultants were on hand to provide information, discuss the various aspects of the proposal, answer questions and guide citizens through all the information presented. Representatives were on hand from other City departments including Transit, Transportation and Land Use / Policy Planning. The development team was represented by Corporate Properties & Buildings with their planning and transportation consultants.
Over 120 citizens participated in this event. The development team is now reviewing and considering the feedback received.
All of the information presented at the November open house is available on this website. If you have a question or comment about transit-oriented development or the proposed development model for the City-owned lands at Anderson Station, please use the online feedback form.
