Real Estate & Development Services

The future of Anderson Station

Thank you to everyone who attended the public event on May 15 2014. Following this information session, Real Estate & Development Services (RE&DS) submitted the formal Outline Plan and Land Use Amendment application in September 2014.

Public Engagement

On May 15 2014, over 600 people from various communities, ages and backgrounds, turned out at Southcentre Mall to view the latest concept of the Anderson TOD redevelopment project. The event offered Calgarians the opportunity to see a proposed concept drawings detailing what Anderson could look like in the future. Concepts were created using feedback from previous events, community association meetings, working with other City departments and discussions with recognized TOD experts.

For those who were unable to attend this year’s event, please view the newly proposed concept and status of the station area plan presented at The City’s information sessions here.

Project Update

The final development application to redevelop 20 acres of City-owned land located at the Anderson Station TOD site was presented at a Public Hearing of Council on October 5 2015, where City Council referred the application back to Administration for further refinement based upon other work streams, including Transit's Parking Strategy returning to Council, through Calgary Planning Commission (CPC) when the work is complete.

The City's Planning Administration presented our proposal to the CPC on August 27 2015, following OLSH's submission of the Outline Plan and Land Use Re-designation Application in September 2014. The application was approved by CPC.

Park and Ride

On October 3, 2016 City Council approved a new approach for the park and ride stall plan for the Anderson Station Transit Oriented Development (TOD) site.

The Anderson Station Park and Ride Plan outlines a revised phasing strategy that would account for no net loss of park and ride stalls as the proposed Anderson Station TOD project develops.

During redevelopment, stall numbers reduced at Anderson Station would be replaced at other Red Line and future Green Line LRT stations.
