COVID-19 City golf course protocols

The following protocols have been developed to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 among golfers, workers and volunteers. We have been working closely with the golf industry to implement best practices for physical distancing to ensure the safety of customers and employees. We are aligned with the recommended procedures outlined by the National Allied Golf Associations – Alberta.

Please familiarize yourself with these protocols prior to arriving at our golf facilities. It is essential that golfers take these policies and precautions seriously to support a safe and healthy experience for everyone. Golfers who refuse to comply must leave the property.

If you have a concern while at the golf course, report it to an employee on-site or call 311.

Safety measures

  • Physical distancing of 2 metres (6 feet) is required and will be strictly monitored and enforced in all areas. No loitering before or after rounds.
  • Surfaces, touch points, doors, carts and washrooms will be cleaned and disinfected frequently.
  • Debit or credit card with “tap” payment is strongly recommended. Pin pads will be disinfected after each use.
  • Plexiglass barriers are in place at point of sale locations. Employees will have appropriate training and protective equipment for the work they are doing.
  • Clubhouse capacity will be monitored and controlled.

Before you go

  • You must have a pre-booked tee time to access the golf course. Walk-on play is not available.
  • Tee times are longer to allow more space between groups.
  • No restrooms are available on the golf course. Clubhouse restrooms will be available but limited to one person at a time.
  • All league play, tournaments and group bookings are suspended.
  • Driving ranges, putting greens and all other practice facilities are closed.
  • All lesson services are suspended until further notice.
  • All indoor and outdoor seating areas are closed.
  • Food and beverage is limited to pre-packaged items only.
  • Golfers should arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before their reserved tee time.

Equipment rental

  • Golfers must have their own equipment. Club rentals are NOT available.
  • Pre-packaged golf balls and tees are available for purchase.
  • Self-service to pencils and scorecards is NOT available. Download the Golf App, print a scorecard at home or ask for them at check in.
  • One person per power cart unless in the same household.
  • Golfers should empty trash and recycling from their power carts when returning to the designated area.
  • After play, golfers should return power cart and pull cart rentals to designated area and proceed directly to your vehicle. No loitering.

On the golf course

  • Follow all signs and instructions while at the golf course.
  • Do not shake hands or high five with others in your group.
  • Do not touch the flagstick - “the pin stays in”. Cups have been raised. Once the ball hits the raised cup it is deemed to have been holed.
  • Ball washing stands, benches and bunker rakes have been removed or marked closed.
  • When next to residential properties, respect the homeowners and keep your distance. Never cross a property line to retrieve a ball.
  • In the event of lightning, frost delays and inclement weather, proceed to your vehicle and wait for instructions over the clubhouse speaker system.

If you have a concern while at the golf course, report it to an employee on-site or call 311.

We chose May 14 because it:

  • Gives us time to prepare for the return of play while ensuring the safety and health of our employees and customers.
  • Aligns to when clubhouses can open. All fees are collected through the point of sale system located in the clubhouses.
  • Allows us to properly train our seasonal staff on the COVID-19 physical distancing rules and ensure we have the right safety protocols in place.

It’s important we get this right. We are confident that opening on May 14 will allow us to do that.
