Brandon Vickerd Artist Talk

When: Friday, May 10, 2019, 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Where: Esker Foundation, 1011 9 Ave SE, 4th floor

A new public artwork, Wolfe and the Sparrows, by artist Brandon Vickerd, will be installed in early May at the south west corner of the new 12th Street bridge in Inglewood. Join Brandon for an Artist Talk during the Esker Foundation Community Night on Friday, May 10 from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm. Brandon will discuss his process designing this intriguing new work, and will offer a new perspective on the ways in which traditional monuments reflect and celebrate moments from our history.

An official ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 11 at 11:00 am next to the 12 St. bridge.

Surfing Underground, Stokley Towles

When:Friday, May 10, 2019, 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Where:Calgary Central Library

As part of the Watershed+ Dynamic Environment Lab, artist Stokley Towles has spent the past year shadowing and interviewing City of Calgary Water Services crew members who repair our water and drainage systems. Join Stokley for his new solo performance, Surfing Underground, that weaves together the social landscape and culture of construction work, extreme weather, and the unpredictable nature of the public. Surfing Underground will be performed on Friday, May 10, 2019 from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Calgary Central Library.
