Boat rentals

The Glenmore Sailing School rents a variety of watercraft, including small sailboats, canoes, kayaks, and even a large day cruiser sailboat. A demonstrated knowledge of sailing, an understanding reservoir bylaws, and adherence to water safety guidelines are required for all rentals.

Only the Jane Mary can be reserved in advance (call 311 for details). All small sailboat, canoe, and kayak rentals are made at the Boat Patrol office in person on a first-come first-serve basis (cannot be pre-booked). Sailboat rentals are typically available:

  • July 1 to September long weekend - 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • September long weekend to October long weekend - 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Weekends only after the October long weekend - 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Note: Season opening delays or mid-season closures can occur due to weather (ice on water, spring run-off , etc.). Always check the status of the Glenmore Reservoir before planning a day on the water.

Canoe and Kayak rentals

Rent a three-person canoe or a single-person kayak at the Glenmore Boat Patrol office. Available from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on a first come, first serve basis, weather permitting. Available weekends only October 14-29.

New this year - clear-bottomed kayaks

Cost

  • $15/hr or $45/day, includes personal flotation devices and paddles.

Sailboats

Our small single and double-occupancy sailboats (420s, Lazers, and Optis) are available for rent to those with sailing experience only, since they are a nonskippered rental. All safety equipment is provided, including personal flotation devices, paddle, bailer and sound signal.

Cost

  • $30.00 per hour to a maximum of $90.00 per day
  • Deposit of $30.00 (first hour rental) required and presentation of picture ID
  • Payment by debit or credit card

Day cruiser

The Jane Mary is a 22 foot sloop-rigged Catalina day cruiser capable of handling groups of up to six adults. She is always rented with a skipper for guided sailing experience. Safety equipment provided, including personal flotation devices, paddle, bailer, heaving line, and sound signal device.

Cost

  • $100.00 for the first hour and $75.00/hour thereafter
  • Payment by debit or credit card
