Cannabis businesses

Cannabis business at The City of Calgary

There are three types of cannabis businesses that are permitted in Calgary. All of them have specific rules, regulations and requirements from several levels of government to operate. Individuals interested in starting one of these businesses should ensure that they read through this information prior to starting the process of applying for a cannabis business.

Cannabis store

A cannabis store business displays, sells, or offers for sale cannabis and must have a provincial retail cannabis licence.

Cannabis facility

A cannabis facility includes the growing, processing, packaging, testing, destruction or storage of cannabis.

Cannabis counselling

Cannabis counselling businesses provide counselling on cannabis use by persons who are not medical professionals.
