Electricity Franchise Agreement
Notice of application to be filed for approval with the Alberta Utilities Commission to renew the electricity franchise agreement between The City of Calgary and ENMAX Power Corporation
The City’s municipal franchise fee agreement with ENMAX expires on 2017 December 31 and needs to be renewed and approved by the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC). ENMAX is the electricity provider for The City and the renewal agreement will enable The City to continue to provide the same service at the same rate that has been in place for the last 20 years.
Application summary:
ENMAX Power Corporation will file an application to renew its franchise agreement with The City of Calgary, following the submission deadline indicated below.
The franchise agreement will subject to further renewal, continue to allow ENMAX Power Corporation the exclusive right to deliver electricity to the residents of the city of Calgary for approximately 20 years from the effective date of the franchise agreement.
The franchise fee rate rider percentage will remain the same at 11.11 per cent effective January 1, 2018. The average monthly franchise fee for an average residential customer is forecast to remain at 11.11 per cent, calculated based on the distribution and energy charges. An average residential customer uses about 7,200 kilowatt hours per year.
