2020 Council Approved Property Tax Rebate

On November 29, 2019 Council approved a one-time property tax rebate for 2020.

Council reduced the previously approved 3.03 per cent tax rate increase for 2020 to 1.5 per cent and approved a rebate from one-time funding from the 2019 Corporate Program savings to cover the 1.5 per cent rate increase.

Rebate calculation

The property's assessed value used to calculate the rebate can be found on your 2020 property tax bill.

The rebate amount is calculated by multiplying the property’s assessed value by the relevant total rebate rate, shown below. For properties having more than one assessment class, multiply the assessment value per class by the relevant class’s total rebate rate.

The rebate is shown on your tax bill as “Council approved rebate” and is credit to the property, not a specific owner.

Example: residential property with an assessed value of $455,000

455,000 x 0.0000658 = $29.94 shown on the bill in the “Council approved rebate” line.

Assessment class 2020 Rebate Rate

Assessment class: Non-residential 2020 Rebate Rate: 0.0002084
