Employee Portal FAQ

This page is intended to help City of Calgary employees successfully register and log on to The City of Calgary Employee Portal and reach the employee myCity website from outside The City’s computer network.

If you are logged on to The City network, you can go directly to the myCity website

Before you begin

Read the technical requirements needed to access The City of Calgary Employee Portal.

Make sure you have your City of Calgary User ID and Password available. If you do not know your User ID and/or password, please contact the IT Help Desk at 403-268-8008 (24/7) or HR Support Services (weekdays 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) at 403-268-5800.

Note: If you regularly log on to The City network and have a Calgary.ca email address, please use your regular network User ID and Password to register and log on the Employee Portal.

1. First time visiting calgary.ca/employeeportal

Make sure you have your City of Calgary User ID and Password available.

If you do not know your User ID and/or password, please contact the IT Help Desk at 403-268-8008 (24/7) or HR Support Services (weekdays 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) at 403-268-5800.

In order to access the Employee Portal you will need to register your account.

  1. Click Register.
  2. A Log On window will open.

     
    Type in your City of Calgary User ID and the Temporary Password.

  3. You will be asked to reset your password. Enter a new password in the Password box and enter your new password again in the Confirm Password box. Click Change Password.

    Note that your password must:
    • Contain at least seven (7) characters.
    • Contain characters from each of the following three groups:
    • Uppercase letters (e.g. A-Z)
    • Lowercase letters (e.g. a-z)
    • Numerals (e.g. 0-9)
    • Not be the same as any of the last four passwords
    • Not contain user’s Account Name or Full Name

  4. A message will be displayed letting you know if your password has been reset successfully.
  5. To continue with registration, enter your new password in the Password box. Click Log On botton.
  6. A window will open asking you to create password Security Questions. These are needed when you log on to the Employee Portal. Choose and answer three different questions. If you want to view the answer as you type it, check the Show Answer box in the bottom left hand corner. Click Submit Request button.
  7. A window will open confirming you have successfully configured your security questions and answers.
  8. You have now successfully registered your account. You will need to return to the main City of Calgary Employee Portal page to log in. Click Return to COC Employee Portal. This will take you back to the calgary.ca Employee Portal log on page.

2. Logging on to Calgary.ca/employeeportal

Once you have registered and set up your security questions, you can access the Employee Portal anytime you are outside The City’s computer network.

  1. Click Log On. The Log On window will open. Enter your User ID and click OK.
  2. The next window will open, asking you for your password. This will be the new password you changed in the steps above. Enter your Password. Click Log On.
  3. The next window will present you with one of the three security questions that you set up in the steps above. Answer the security question.

    Note: The security answers must match exactly what you entered when the questions were chosen.
  4. The Identity Confirmation Successful window will open. You can choose to Remember this Computer by selecting Yes or No. Click Continue.
  5. The myCity web page will open.
  6. Click on the myHRconnect tile to access your HR related information.

3. I forgot my password

  1. Click Forgot User ID or Password. A Log On window will open.
  2. Enter your User ID. Click Log On.
     
     
  3. The Answer Security Question window will open.

    Answer all the Security Questions* that come up on the screen. Click Submit Answer.
  4. If you have submitted your answers correctly, the Password Change window will open.
     
  5. Enter a new Password and re-enter it to confirm it. Click Update.
  6. You will receive a message confirming that you have changed your password successfully.
  7. Go back to calgary.ca/employeeportal. Click Log On and use your new password when prompted.

*If you cannot remember your security questions, call HR Support Services at 403-268-5800.

4. I forgot my User ID

  1. Click Forgot User ID or Password. A Log On window will open.
  2. Click Forgot User ID.


    A Forgot User ID window will open.
  3. Enter your Employee ID number* and click Retrieve User ID. Your User ID will be emailed to you.
  4. Go back to calgary.ca/employeeportal. Click Log On and enter your User ID when prompted.

*If you cannot remember your Employee ID number, check your pay stub or call HR Support Services at 403-268-5800.

5. I forgot the answers to my security questions

Please contact the IT Help Desk at 403-268-8008 (24/7) or HR Support Services (weekdays 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) at 403-268-5800.

6. Logging Out

Once you’ve logged on, you can access your employee information by clicking on myHRconnect, or navigate through myCity for other relevant general employee information.

When you’re ready to log out, click Logout in the upper right hand corner. You may get a warning screen.

Click Advanced and continue to logout. This screen will not appear again.
