E-Scooters Returning to Calgary
Calgarians love e-scooters-- we were the first Canadian city to record 1 million rides. After the successful 16-month shared e-scooter pilot, Council unanimously voted to continue the program on a long-term basis and directed administration to select two operators through a competitive process.
Bird was part of the shared e-scooter pilot so the company is well-known in our city. Additionally, Bird has chosen Calgary for their Canadian operational headquarters. This will create 45 full-time jobs for people that will help Bird grow their business and continue to develop their program, which is looking to bring shared e-bikes to Calgary.
Neuron Mobility is the leading e-scooter company in Australia and New Zealand. They also operate in the United Kingdom and South Korea. You’ll easily recognize their bright orange e-scooters which are loaded with technology that have positioned Neuron as an industry leader. Neuron plans to add approximately 75 jobs in Calgary.
Both Bird and Neuron will be allowed up to 750 e-scooters each and are planning to launch on May 28. Bird has committed to adding e-bikes as part of their offering. Download the apps and get ready to ride safely!
