Greater Downtown Plan
The Greater Downtown Plan is the vision for Calgary's downtown area. It's made up of six communities: Downtown West, the Downtown Core, Eau Claire, Chinatown, East Village, and the Beltline. The Plan is a bold vision that points us in a new direction while playing off our city's strengths.
We hear a lot about how our downtown is the economic engine or heartbeat of the city. Although things have changed a lot in recent years (and even in the last year), downtown Calgary still generates a huge amount of property tax and has a concentration of people and businesses. It's central to our economic recovery.
I'm confident the Greater Dowtown Plan will provide us with a road map for restoring life into our city's core-- to take us from "vacancy to vibrancy". The Plan will be discussed at the April 7 Standing Policy Committee on Planning and Urban Development, followed by Council on April 26. Please click the image below to read the plan.
