Calgary Assessment Review Board

The Calgary ARB members are appointed for one or two-year terms and may be reappointed up to a total of 12 years.  Recruitment of open positions for the next year takes place in the fall.

Candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas are eligible to apply:

  • Real estate
  • Property management
  • Property development
  • Property appraisal
  • Assessment
  • Law

In addition, candidates should have strong analytical skills, the ability to be fair and open-minded, and a capacity to work collaboratively. Previous experience on a quasi-judicial board or administrative tribunal is considered an asset.

Calgary ARB members must be 18 years old or older and be current residents of the City of Calgary. Pursuant to the Matters Relating to Assessment Complaints Regulation, 2018 AR 201/2017, current tax agents, assessors, and employees of the City of Calgary are not eligible to be members of the Calgary ARB.

Former tax agents, assessors and employees of the City of Calgary may not sit as members of the Calgary ARB until at least one year after their position as a tax agent, assessor or employee of the City of Calgary has ended.
