Taxation collects monies from citizens, businesses and other parties to fund the delivery of City services, programs and infrastructure. We ensure property taxes are properly billed and collected, and that customers receive timely and accurate information on property tax matters.

What we heard
You appreciate the services provided by us in helping understand and resolve tax matters. You say the Tax Instalment Payment Plan (TIPP) is convenient and helpful. More flexibility in payment deadlines and the application of penalties would be helpful, and while these are directed by City bylaws under the Municipal Government Act, we want to be responsive to your requests for enhanced levels of service.

Council has directed that we speak in a collective voice to improve communication with Calgarians, you want to understand how your taxes are invested, how municipal government serves you, and that we’re well-run and efficient.
We are working on improving municipal service value simplifying and streamlining processes and procedures, cutting red tape, eliminating service silos, and discontinuing services we should not be providing. We’re working to create a culture that embraces appropriate risk, innovation, experimentation, and lessons learned as opportunities to improve.
