How to renew your livery driver's licence
Taxi Driver’s Licence Renewal
As of March 2021: Combined Taxi/Limousine Driver’s Licence: An individual will have one licence (Taxi Driver’s Licence) allowing them to drive both taxi and limousine.
To renew your Taxi Driver’s Licence, please attend the Livery Transport Services office. A licence may be renewed in the month prior to the expiry date and must be renewed no later than 30 days from the expiry date. Please note it is an offence to operate a taxi or limousine without a valid and subsisting taxi driver’s licence.
In order to renew your licence, you must produce the following original documents: The most recent Taxi Driver’s Licence, a valid class 1, 2 or 4 Alberta Driver’s Licence and a second piece of government issued identification such as:
- Alberta Health Care card
- Canadian Citizenship card
- Canadian passport
- Canadian birth certificate
- Permanent Resident card
Upon renewal, licence and Calgary Police Service fees will be collected and a new photo may be taken.
Important information about renewing your licence
Please note, as stated in our Livery Transport Bylaw, if a Taxi Driver’s Licence is not renewed within 30 days of its expiry, the licence is deemed abandoned and you will lose your right to renew. If this occurs, to obtain a licence to drive a taxi or limousine, you will need to successfully complete the Livery Driver Training program and pay the applicable fees.
