Crime Prevention

The Calgary Police Service (CPS) is committed to crime prevention in our city. 

The CPS Crime Prevention Team (CPT) is an integral part of our commitment and plays a key role in providing information to the public, empowering them to take pro-active steps to prevent crime. 

The CPT specifically focuses on the following areas:  

  • Home and personal safety
  • Business and commercial safety
  • Fraud and cyber safety
  • Social disorder and community issues

The CPT researches, develops and delivers crime prevention programs in support of evidence-based policing on these and other topics:

  • Fraud
  • Property Crime
  • Theft
  • Robbery
  • Online Safety
  • Drug Education 
  • Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)

Education and awareness are integral to reducing crimes of opportunity in our city.
