About Community Cleanups
Community Cleanups cancelled for 2020
In order to reduce the spread of COVID-19, the provincial government now requires all events that will involve more than 50 people to be cancelled immediately and until further notice. Due to the uncertainty surrounding the length of time that these gathering size restrictions will be in effect, the difficult decision has been made to cancel all Community Cleanup events scheduled for 2020.
About Community Cleanups
The organized Community Cleanup events save residents a trip to the landfill for items that do not fit in their waste and recycling carts or for residents who do not have cart service. This service is free of charge to all Calgarians.
We supply three packer trucks with crews (two for waste and one for organic materials) and funds for advertising and promotion, gloves, garbage bags, food and refreshments for the group of community volunteers.
Sleep Country has donated mattress bags for removal of mattresses with protection from harm like bed bugs. The mattress bags will be available at the community centre on the day of your Community Cleanup.
