For this activity, connect with one or more friends on a video chat like Skype, Zoom or Facetime.

Fingerprint Challenge

Supplies:

  • Ink pad or markers
  • Magnifying glass (optional)
  • Paper

Fingerprints are 100 per cent unique - no two people have the exact same fingerprint. The police use them to catch criminals and help find lost children. Fingerprints can leave a sort of 'invisible ink' that police can translate with special tools and equipment.

Instructions:

  • Use an ink pad or marker to cover the tip of one of your fingers.
  • Press your finger on the paper. Roll your finger from side to side to get a full picture of your finger.
  • Repeat with your thumb or another finger.
  • Write your name on the page.
  • Get other members in your house to do the same thing on a different piece of paper. Do you see any differences between each finger print?
