COVID-19 Health and Safety - Athletic Parks & Playfields

Stay home and away from others

  • If you are showing symptoms or are feeling unwell
  • If you have travelled outside of Canada in the past 14 days
  • If you are a close contact of someone who has tested positive or are waiting for test results for COVID-19

Masks and face coverings

At our Athletic Parks, masks must be worn:

  • In indoor areas
  • In washrooms
  • If you’re coaching and/or providing instruction
  • If participants and trainers/coaches cannot consistently maintain 2 metres physical distance outdoors
  • Light intensity activity
  • Whenever you are not engaged in intense physical activities

According to the current Alberta Health restrictions, if you cannot wear a mask (e.g. medical reasons) then you must not participate.

Masks should not be worn during intense physical activities.

How we’re keeping you safe

  • Making sure our facilities align with provincial guidelines
  • Posting signage to indicate foot traffic flow and/or areas that are closed to the public
  • Cleaning and disinfecting high touch areas (e.g. doors, counters, railings)
  • Providing access to hand sanitizer and hand wash stations
  • Having staff maintain physical distancing and wear face coverings
  • Restricting access through a booking and appointment-only reservation system

How you and your group can keep safe

Permit holders/organizers

  • User groups must follow Public Health Orders and Guidelines
  • No more than 10 people per group (instructors/coaches included). Fields can be used by more than one group, as long as 3 metres distancing can be maintained between groups of 10 and the groups don't intermingle.
  • 2 metres physical distance must be maintained by all participants and trainers/coaches (who are not part of a school cohort or household) while engaging in the physical activity outdoors
  • Masks must be worn when participants and trainers/coaches cannot consistently maintain 2 metres (6 feet) physical distance outdoors
  • Participants must wear a mask when in indoor common areas
  • Follow your provincial and national sport governing bodies' guidelines related to COVID-19
  • Collect participant contact information to support contact tracing if necessary
  • Participants must bring their own water
  • Water bottles should be labelled with the name of the owner. Water bottles must not be shared

Participants and spectators

  • Spectators are currently not allowed; parents can drop-off and assist children to the field/change room, but must wait in their car
  • Maintain physical distancing and wear masks. Masks should not be worn when conducting intense physical activities
  • Wash your hands with soap and water before, and after your activity
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, mouth and face
  • Cover coughs and sneezes in a tissue or your elbow
  • Carry and use your own hand sanitizer
  • Players should come dressed in gear as much as possible
  • Bring and clean your own equipment
  • Do not share equipment unless you are in the same household.
  • Do not share water bottles and towels
  • Arrive no more than 15 minutes before your booking time
  • Don’t gather or loiter in dressing rooms, parking areas or public areas before or after your activity
  • Leave the location as soon as your activities end to reduce overlap of bookings
