Lifeguard and Swim Instructor careers

Job Responsibilties


The Swim Instructor is responsible for teaching participants of all ages swimming and safety education. Swim Instructors evaluate students’ performance and maintain records of performance and attendance.

They also ensure compliance with safety procedures and deal with patrons' questions and concerns regarding swimming lessons.

Courses and certifications


Swim for Life Instructor and Lifesaving Instructor

Required

This certification allows candidates to teach and evaluate Swim for Life programs, Canadian Swim Patrol, Bronze Star, Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross. Completion of this course also includes Lifesaving CPR Instructor certification.
 

Prerequisite: 15 years old and current Bronze Cross or higher.
 

Certification: Current within 24 months of the date of certification

CPR

Required

  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) level "C" certification
  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification

 

Certification:

Current within 12 months of the date of certification

Bronze Cross or National Lifeguard

Required

Prerequisite: 15 years old and current Bronze Cross or higher.

Application process


We regularly recruit instructors, with major seasonal hires taking place in January, March and September. 

You will be required to provide the following:

  1. Applicant must be at least 16 years of age
  2. Current Swim for Life/Lifesaving Instructor course completion
  3. Current CPR Level C and Intermediate First Aid documentation
