Recreation Facility Development & Enhancement Study
As Calgary continues to grow and change, so do Calgarians’ needs. The goal of the study is to identify any gaps or redundancies that might exist in the availability of recreation opportunities. It is the first step towards a larger, more informed conversation about the future of recreation in Calgary.
Results of the study will be used to inform a long-term investment strategy that:
- is responsive to current and future demands
- contributes to the long-term viability of The City’s Recreation infrastructure
- ensures future conversations with stakeholders and the public are based on sound research of where investment has the greatest value for citizens
- provides quality, accessible and needed recreation opportunities for all quadrants of the city
Data collection for the Recreation Facility Development & Enhancement Study is now complete. Information collected through surveys, interviews and internal audits will be aggregated to provide a big picture view of the current and projected future state of recreation in Calgary.
We are currently reviewing the data to identify themes and opportunities. A summary of the findings will be available at the end of the study and shared with interested community partners and members of the public.
