Submit your nomination papers
Nomination papers for mayor, councillor and school board trustees (public and separate) can be submitted to Elections Calgary during the nomination period.
The nomination period is January 4 to noon on September 20, 2021.
All candidates must provide Form 4, Form 5 and the Candidate Contact Information Consent Form completed in full and the appropriate deposit to Elections Calgary.
All nominations must be accompanied by the appropriate deposit.
- $500 for mayoral candidates.
- $100 for councillors and school board trustees.
Deposit must be in the form of cash, certified cheque or money order. Personal cheques are not accepted. Do not send cash deposits in the mail.
Nomination submit options
There are three options for submitting your nomination papers.
1. In-person by appointment
Call 403-476-4100 or book an appointment online to drop off your forms in person. Appointments are recommended for those who would like to review their nomination forms with a staff member. There is no walk in service until further notice.
2. By mail or courier
Send completed forms and candidate deposit to Elections Calgary. Do not send cash deposits via mail or courier. Certified cheques and money order will be accepted. Certified cheques and money order payable to “The City of Calgary.”
3. By secure 24-hour drop box
Completed forms and deposits can be dropped off at the City of Calgary Municipal Building secure drop box.
Do not drop off cash deposits. Certified cheques and money order will be accepted. Certified cheques and money order payable to “The City of Calgary.”

COVID-19 safety measures
For any appointments at the Elections Calgary office, please ensure you are symptom free. A limit of two people will be allowed to attend an appointment - the candidate and one other person. All individuals attending must wear a mask.
