COVID-19 relief funding support
On May 11, 2020, City Council approved $6 million in relief funding directed toward community associations and social recreation groups with a Lease/License of Occupation (Council Policy - CSPS011) with The City of Calgary. The City of Calgary is continuing to take action to support our partners. These funds were approved to support groups to cover a portion of their non-negotiable operating costs for up to 12 months due to the impacts of facility closures brought on by COVID-19 health restrictions.
We are happy to announce that The City has been successful in securing an additional $5 million through the Provincial and Federal government’s Municipal Operating Support Transfer program. These additional funds will be used to extend the Covid-19 Relief Fund grant program into Q2 (April-June) of 2022.
Your organization’s ability to receive funding will be dependent on ongoing health restrictions and the impact those restrictions continue to have on your operations. The Guidelines for COVID-19 Response Funding from the Community Sustainability Reserve will continue to be used to evaluate funding requests.
The City is happy to continue supporting our community partners through the ongoing challenges brought forth by the COVID-19 pandemic. Should you have further questions about the COVID-19 Relief Fund please contact your City liaison.
