All inquiries regarding City construction opportunities that are open, closed, or awarded should be emailed to the responsible buyer, as identified on each bid opportunity document.
All closed bid opportunities are in evaluation until they are awarded or cancelled.
Notification and distribution of Request for Tenders
A majority of City construction opportunities are advertised as Request for Tenders (RFT) that require the use of prequalified prime-contractors. Contractors who are prequalified by The City for construction must be registered with MERX Private Tenders to receive notifications on bid opportunities and to access City construction tender packages online through MERX Private Tenders. Notices for tender opportunities are advertised on Merx Calgary and Alberta Purchasing Connection (APC).
In general, the process to register with MERX Private Tenders is as follows:
- Once a contractor is prequalified by The City for construction, The City will inform MERX Private Tenders.
- MERX will email instructions to register to the prequalified contractor. MERX charges a subscription fee of $150.
- Once registered, the prequalified contractor will receive email notifications from MERX regarding any bid opportunities.
Note: Registration applies to all prequalified contractors, including those who are already registered with MERX for other services.
