With the growing and changing population in our city, it has been important as a business unit to review our offerings to ensure they are still the best way to meet the needs of communities across Calgary. With this in mind, Animal & Bylaw Services is broadening its focus to target a variety of new community education and awareness initiatives, and as such will not be offering specific classroom-based programming for the 2013-2014 school year. The recent flood event has served to highlight the importance of community engagement and the development of creative neighbourhood-based programming that identifies and addresses key community needs in a comprehensive fashion. These efforts will reach children and youth along with other segments of the population in new and innovative ways around safety, responsible pet ownership and the building of strong inclusive communities.
We look forward to exploring new and innovative initiatives to help meet the needs of youth and communities across Calgary.
